Mount Emei, Sichuan

~Photographs taken at Mount Emei, Sichuan.

Many people have asked me, 'There are so many places in China, why did you choose to go Sichuan?'
I couldn't answer why did I choose to go Sichuan, but why not?
Friends of mine have an opinion that a young adult in her 20s going to China would have chosen to go big cities like Beijing or Shanghai.
But the way I see it, there is no such place that is not worth a trip.
Every place has its own character.
And of course, there is no exception to Sichuan.

Mount Emei shrouded by the clouds and fog is famous for its heaven like view.

It was as though we were walking on clouds. It makes me feel like stepping off the solid ground under my feet into the clouds and fly away.

Samantabhadra of Mount Emei covered by fog, an unfortunate sight.

Once the fog receded, the majestic statue revealed itself.

All in all, Sichuan does not disappoint me at all. Mount Emei really has offered one of the best scenic view.

Syney Fish Market

~Photographs taken at Sydney Fish Market, Australia.

Local delicacies and specialties are not to be missed when traveling.
Besides understanding the lifestyle and culture of the places we visit, we should also give in to our glutton and reward ourselves with food.

Going to Sydney, a place not to be missed is definitely the Sydney Fish Market.
Don't be fooled by the word 'Fish' in Fish Market.
Basically, every seafood that you can think of will be found over here.
Oysters, lobsters, crabs, abalone, varieties of fishes and many more.
What you will find difficult to get is a big enough appetite to eat them all.

After choosing what you want to eat and how you would like it to be cooked. With your food in hand, walking outside the fish market complex, you'll notice a lot of locals over there like to eat al fresco, with the sun shining.
And if you were trying to fit in, just beware of the seagull droppings from the sky.

Bottle Shop

After filling up your belly, you can go to the Bottle Shop and get bottle of wine to complete your meal, a great way to ease away the fuss.
Bottle Shop by the way, is what Australian calls a liquor store.

Glacier Park, Hai Luo Gou

~ Photograph taken at Glacier Park, Hai Luo Gou ~

Hai Luo Gou Glacier, Sichuan being the biggest glacier park in China was formed 16 million years ago.
Due to the cancellation of my JiuZaiGou trip, I went to Hai Luo Gou instead.
A place that I have never heard before.
Standing in front of the Glacier Park, all I could do was marveled at the natural phenomenon.

I could still remember that coming from a tropical country, we were all doubting the existing of a glacier, a frozen river, in such a low altitude. I was all awed and dazzled by the magnificent glacier. For a person like me who doesn't fancy mountains, the view of Hai Luo Gou Glacier Park was the best attraction in my trip to Hai Luo Gou, a frozen river literally.

Would I be going back there any time soon? I don't think so, not while I have to endure the hours of winding roads up the mountain.
Nevertheless, I did not regret visiting this place. Because to me, there is a story in every journey.

Balik Pulau

~Photo taken at Balik Pulau, Penang,

Penang is neither a city like New York, nor an under developed town.

An escape from the bustling city but yet not away from it's modern facilities and convenience.
A place so unique, a developed city with pieces of it's heritage, lifestyle and culture very well preserved, is a place called Penang.

Wanting an escape after a tiring work week?

Take a weekend escape to Balik Pulau in Penang, with clear blue skies and vast patches of green paddy fields.
A great place to get some R&R.

PS: It's Durian season, stop by on your way Balik Pulau to enjoy the king of the fruit.

Memory

~Photo taken at Opera House, Sydney.~

You may have forgotten the places you went before,
but, you will never forget your feeling at that moment.
That is memory.
