French Toast, Miam Miam

Miam Miam, a new cafe at Gurney Paragon, is a French Japanese fusion restaurant.
It's famous for its French Toast and Souffle.

After reading all the reviews from bloggersssss, we decided to give it a try.
Since we went there after taking our lunch, we ordered only the famous french toast.

*Be prepared that there might be 10-15 minutes of waiting time (could be more?) as the restaurant is always full.

Ta~Da~ This is how the French Toast look like.

I am not a French Toast person, but this is actually quite nice. The french toast comes with a scoop of whipped cream and maple syrup. The taste was just nice, not too sweet and not too stodgy.
I am not good in describing food, but if you are a french toast lover, then it is highly recommended.

Price wise, this dish cost RM16.80. It is a little overpriced to me, considering that it is just a toast.
Anyways, no regrets trying this, it tastes good. Whether is there a next time or not, we'll see how loaded I am then.

The Camera Museum, Penang

The Camera Museum, Penang.

Cafes and Musuem in Penang is getting more and more.
Camera Museum is the most recent one.

The must do things in The Camera Museum, printed on a poster near the entrance of the museum.

A very old camera located at the back of the entrance. Is it still functioning?

‘History is so precious that it should be always attended by a camera’
So true.

Some of the decorations in the museum.

Wall painting + camera, the main focus of many visitors.

A picture taken before entering 'No photography' section.
A long heritage house that keeps you guessing, what is inside?

After the 'No photography' section is the camera shop.
There are a lot of camera themed merchandises like camera look alike mirror, fan and clock.
If you are scratching your head what can you buy as a gift for your friend who loves photography, come here.

Camera shop

After the camera shop is a small and cozy cafe.
Have a coffee session here after photo outing and surround yourself with cameras.
Shall I call it a heaven for photography lover?

Heard that there is a dark room here, but seems like it is not open for viewing yet.
It is a small museum with not much things there, but since no entrance fees is needed, why not give it a visit when you are free?
Or perhaps, maybe we could wait for the day when all the attractions are completed.

A hidden 'Cafe'

Hai Key, the word 'Hai' is taken from the sounds of 'sea' in Chinese word and 'Key' is from the sounds of 'Quay'.

Hai Key

Hai Key is not like a usual cafe, there is no air conditional and no lucrative decorations.
A small hut made of metal sheets, simple wooden made tables, traditional toasted bread, black coffee are what they have.
'This is what we do in the good old days, but the current generation would prefer modern cafe to ours. Cafes like ours are being replaced by modern cafes.'

So, where is Hai Key? It is just next to one of the Penang famous wall paintings, 'kids playing basket ball'.

After a tired morning of walking around Penang Heritage area, why not stop by and rest for a while?
Enjoy a cup of coffee or get yourself an ice cream to chill yourself in this hot weather and continue with you journey.
If there were not much customers, the owner would sit down and have a good chat with you.
The classic taste and the friendly people are what make this cafe special.

A basic and simple small hut with two long wooden table, do not expect fancy decorations, coffee or food here.
It is just a place for you to rest after a long walk.

Rest well, for a longer journey ahead.

You can also get some souvenier from this cafe.

If you are too tired to walk, you could rent a bicycle from the cafe too.

Nearby the cafe, there is a door full of signatures from tourists.

A troop of marching kitties.

A combination of wall paintings in Penang, I got myself a full set of magnets.

Balik Pulau

~Photo taken at Balik Pulau, Penang,

Penang is neither a city like New York, nor an under developed town.

An escape from the bustling city but yet not away from it's modern facilities and convenience.
A place so unique, a developed city with pieces of it's heritage, lifestyle and culture very well preserved, is a place called Penang.

Wanting an escape after a tiring work week?

Take a weekend escape to Balik Pulau in Penang, with clear blue skies and vast patches of green paddy fields.
A great place to get some R&R.

PS: It's Durian season, stop by on your way Balik Pulau to enjoy the king of the fruit.

Penang is a well known food heaven among Malaysian.
The food in Penang is not to be missed.

It has been more than 5 decades since Toh Soon Cafe first opened. Having a breakfast here with it's freshly brewed coffee with the traditional charcoal toasted bread will bring you through a journey back in time.
